Sus imágenes de volcanes nunca son solo planos de volcanes, también son puntos de entrada a los complejos ciclos del planeta, evocan destrucción y recreación a un nivel casi mítico, son un recordatorio constante de la insignificancia de la humanidad ante las fuerzas de la naturaleza, mientras la fuerza de su filmación da un testimonio incesante de la capacidad y la tenacidad humanas. Sus imágenes trascienden su época, trascienden sus escenarios individuales, trascienden las vidas de sus creadores que iban a ser interrumpidas, incluso trascienden la misma película que las contiene.
