Iran’s decision to cut UK, French oil supplies logical: Pak analyst

Islamabad, Feb 23, IRNA – Senior Pakistani defense analyst on Thursday said that Iran’s decision to stop selling oil to British, French and other European oil companies is logical.

Talking to IRNA, Air Commodore (Retd) Khalid Iqbal said that over the past years Iran has been under unjustified pressures by the West, particularly the US and its allies.

He said that Iran has been repeatedly targetted by the West's illogical and cruel sanctions.

Earlier the European Union had banned imports of oil from Iran joining the United States in a new round of measures.

Iqbal said that very close allies of Washington have informed the country that for them it is not possible to abide by the western sanctions on Iran.

“Japan has told the US that it is difficult for them to stop importing Iranian oil and the decision would also have an adverse impact on the global oil production,” noted the analyst.

He added that India has also refused to accept the American pressure in this regards and China and Russia also don’t want to follow the sanctions.

The analyst went on to say that Pakistan has also decided to go along with the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.

He added that the closure of oil supply to these countries would have no adverse impact on the economy of Iran but the decision would certainly affect the European economies.
