Syrian Coalition: Assads Importing of External Militias a Sign of Weakness

Nora Al Ameer, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, said that Assad's importing of Iraqi and Hezbollah militias to fight in the battle of Yabroud is a proof of the depletion of his troops. "Assad's use of the terrorist militias of Hezbollah since the early days of the uprising was a sign of his army's disintegration. The militias of Assad and Hezbollah have been recently aided by external sectarian militias, namely Iraqi Badr gangs for the battle of Yabroud, which is also a sign of the depletion of their forces," Al Ameer said.

Furthermore, she stresses "that the international community must take immediate steps to stop Assad's importing of terrorism and sectarian militias, who assist him in the killing of the Syrian people." Al Ameer lampooned statements made by Iran's Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, who said that a joint parliamentary meeting will be held by representatives from Iran, Iraq, Hezbollah militia and the Assad regime on March 10 in Tehran. "Those people have never been familiar with the meaning of parliaments, which are considered the core of democracy. In their upcoming meeting these criminal mafias will be developing plans to kill more Syrians and to export terrorism to all parts of the Arab world and the whole region."

Al Ameer also points out that Hezbollah's militias have intensified their attacks on the civilians in Yabroud to claim a bogus victory and to cover up their cowardice and inaction following the Israeli raids on their positions in Lebanon last week. Hezbollah is also trying to restore its military prestige which it lost after its false claims wabout resistance were exposed to the world." In a similar vein, Fayez Sarah, member of the political committee, said that "terrorist Hezbollah's abstention from retaliating to the Israeli air strikes is not new, as this party has been following a policy of subjection and cowardice disguised in political wisdom is the same policy that has been adopted by the tyrannical Assad regime."

Sarah also said that "but the strange thing that the Hezbollah militia did not even condemn Israel's violation of Lebanon's national sovereignty, which this party has long claimed to defend it." Furthermore, Sarah points out that "these repeated Israeli strikes lay bare all allegations of resistance which the militia of the Assad regime and Hezbollah employ to hammer home their political agenda in the region. It is a shame that Hezbollah consider their main battle is in Yabrood and not in Tel Aviv. Hezbollah's turning a blind eye for air strikes launched by the occupation confirms that their armed presence is not meant to deter the occupation, but to implement the political agendas of the Israeli occupation through destroying Syria and killing the Syrian people."  (Source: Syrian Coalition)
